Kate attended a lunch hosted by the Queen's Master of the Horse, Lord Vestey, for Gold Cup day. She was met on her arrival by two plain-clothes Gloucestershire Police officers who escorted her to the royal enclosure. In a sky-blue jacket, brown skirt and jaunty black beret, Kate appeared to have taken note of critics who panned her appearance at Cheltenham earlier in the week alongside Prince William. They wore matching brown tweed outfits lambasted as "frumpy and middle-aged". William was absent as he was enrolling in a Blues and Royals tank commanders course in Dorset.
