Although the Middletons did not sit next to the Royals, the ceremony marked the first time their daughter has been William's guest at a high-profile event attended by the Queen. Every other guest was seated as Kate took up her place in the front row accompanied by William's best friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, and two of his godfathers, King Constantine of Greece and Lord Romsey.
Kate enjoyed a day of shopping with her mother, Carole, in Chelsea. The pair strolled around King's Road, perhaps looking for a Christmas present for the prince.
